Yesterday I visited the Childrens' Museum in Indianapolis with my sister and nephew. We were there primarily to view the map & exploration exhibit by the National Geographic Society. We also made a visit to the museum's DinoSphere to see the Hogwartia dinosaur skull on display there. It had been moved to the Paleo Prep Lab for further preparation, and it was there that I found Lego bricks being used in a slightly different way! The pictures below tell the story:

One of the professionals there was kind enough to talk to me about their using Lego bricks (unfortunately I did not get his name so I can give him credit here for the information). They use the bricks to make forms to pour rubber around the fossils and insert bricks to help lock the rubber forms together for casting the fossil molds. He was even kind enough to give me a small sample of a rubber mold with the outlines of the brick form on its outside. Very interesting and different use of the popular Lego bricks!
